Yael  Inbar is a screenwriter for animation films, theater director, and a puppeteer. She is a senior Lecturer and Head of the Animation department of Sapir College, Israel. Yael  Established the "Gertrude Theater" - a theater company which combines puppetry and choreography. The Theater's productions performed world-wide in Puppet festivals and Theater seasons. The Gertrude Theater won the first prize in Valencia international Puppet Festival Spain, and in Cannes International Theater Festival, France. Yael explores the field of storytelling  and the use of text in relation to image, on stage, in Animation, and in installations. She founded the animation department of Sapir Academic School of Sound and Screen Based Arts. As part of her research in text and image, she initiated a course in Documentary animation films, where the students create short animation films based on monologues that explore through animation up- to-date issues in Israeli society. She also leads an annual international collaboration of  Animation following Literature, where animation students from The Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School in Lodz, 
collaborate with students from Sapir animation department, to create short animation films inspired by the writing of canonical authors. She mentors graduation animation films, games and installations that participate in international animation Festivals. 

Her International Teaching  experience  include The Polish National Film Television and Theatre School in  Lodz, Poland,  Bournemouth  University Animation department, UK, and Erfurt International Puppets Festival. Prior to her position as head of animation department at Sapir, Yael was a faculty member in the department of screen based arts, Bezalel Academy of fine arts, Jerusalem, and in Haifa University Theater Department. She is an artistic committee member of the ʻInternational Puppet Festival'  Jerusalem, and of ʻAnimixʼ International  Animation Festival, Tel Aviv – the Yoram  Gross Award.

Graduation with honors from the School of Visual Theatre, Jerusalem, Israel
