Stefano Passeri is an Italian-born artist and educator whose practice bridges sculpture, architecture, and creative technology. Using model-making, programming, digital fabrication, and simple mechanisms, his work often foregrounds the fragility and humor embedded in everyday technology. His recent projects reimagine established monumental structures through modest materials such as cardboard and hobbyist electronics, underscoring the tension between permanence and impermanence and using technology as a means of defamiliarizing the familiar.

Before joining the University of Maryland, Stefano served as the Undergraduate Thesis Coordinator at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute School of Architecture and was a Design of Theory Fellow at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc). His work has been exhibited and published in the United States, Europe, and Asia. His professional experience includes collaborations with award-winning design studios and creative practices, bringing an international perspective to his work in both academia and industry.

Stefano holds an M.Arch with distinction from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), where his thesis project was awarded the Frank O. Gehry Prize and the AIA Henry Adams Medal. He also holds a BA in Fine Art and an MA in Philosophy from the University of London, as well as a BSc from the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London.
