Mollye Bendell is an interdisciplinary artist with a focus in electronic and digital media. She has created radio sculptures as a resident of Wave Farm, and developed augmented and virtual reality projects as a resident of Harvestworks Digital Media Arts Center and the Tides Institute and Museum of Art. With two collaborators in strikeWare collective, Mollye received a Robert W. Deutsch Foundation Rubys Artist Grant to explore how the history of Black education continues to shape Baltimore City. strikeWare were finalists for the Janet + Walter Sondheim Artscape Prize in 2020. In 2021 strikeWare received an Independent Artist Regional Award from the Maryland State Arts Council and a Baker Artist Award. Mollye’s solo work has been exhibited in venues such as the Baltimore Museum of Art, the New York Electronic Arts Festival, and Maryland Art Place. She holds a BA in Sculpture from the Glasgow School of Art and an MFA in Intermedia and Digital Arts from UMBC. She is currently a lecturer in the Immersive Media Design program at University of Maryland, College Park. She lives and works in Baltimore, Maryland.
