Jonathan David Martin is an XR director, researcher, and performer working at the intersection of immersive technology, documentaries, and live performance.  His work focuses on using AR and VR to develop new narrative and production approaches to content creation across a range of mediums. As a member of Double Eye Studios, he is innovating on the craft of performance technique within VR both in highly acclaimed live-performance VR experiences and methodology research.  As the Co-Artistic Director of the non-profit arts company, Smoke & Mirrors Collaborative, he has been exploring the use of XR to create social impact works that engage with local communities.  He comes to immersive media from a performing arts background as a Broadway performer (as an actor and puppeteer in War Horse), stage director, and producer.  Jonathan is originally from Monterey, CA where he attended the country’s first public high school oceanographic science academy.  There he discovered his love for jazz, frisbee, and pole vaulting and ambivalence about oceanography.
