Ian McDermott

Ian acts as the Immersive Media Technician for the IMD program, managing equipment and facilities to keep things running smoothly for faculty and students. In 2012, he graduated from UMD's Studio Art program with a focus in sculpture and graphic design. For the past decade he has dipped in and out of a variety of DC's art, music, and comedy scenes. During that time he developed accessibility software for the Smithsonian, was featured in annual comedy festivals at the Lincoln Theatre, taught new media art at the Hirshhorn Museum, and composed generative music using the electrical energy of plants. In his spare time he likes to patch synth modules, animate music videos, and run long distances.
